STA Horary Conversion Course for Lee’s Students: 19-20 August 2017

This class is the first horary conversion course for Lee’s students to receive the STA Horary Practitioners Diploma. There will be several courses targeted to the intensity of the horary training that Lee has given. This first course will be open to Lee’s students from the following classes:
  • CSH graduates
  • Kepler College academic program 322 students
  • Avalon School students who completed the horary assignments
  • 2013 Master Class students
  • Atlanta group
  • Boston group
  • San Francisco group
  • Amsterdam group
  • Avalon horary course students

The course will be approximately twelve hours of online instruction spread out over two weekend days. You will receive two written coursebooks: the STA Practitioner’s Level Course Notes that every STA student receives, and Lee’s workbook, Learning Classical Horary Astrology. These two references together provide you with an unprecedented amount of material which, combined with Lee’s book, Martial Art of Horary Astrology, should move you well along in your horary studies.

The twelve hours of online instruction will cover those portions of the STA course that do not overlap with Lee’s typical horary teaching, and also allow for some review time as well. At the end of the source, you will receive your STA Diploma.

And: we’ll even talk about The Eclipse!

Cost: $250

How similar are the CSH and STA horary courses?

The courses are about a 60-70% overlap in content with a 95% agreement in method. What this means is: Deborah Houlding and I took different approaches to setting up the course. We have emphasized somewhat different information as the “theory” part of the instruction. But once we get round to interpreting charts, there are few disagreements, although there are occasional differences of emphasis. And this should not be a surprise, because we really do share a lineage.

School of Traditional Astrology Practitioner’s Level Horary Course

Lee now teaches horary astrology through the STA.

STA Horary Course - New York City 10-14 April 2017
STA Horary Course – New York City 10-14 April 2017

Lee will shortly announce courses for her CSH students and former Kepler College students to obtain the STA certificate.

The STA’s uniquely structured horary course is suitable for any astrologer with a secure understanding of basic astrological principles and experience of drawing up and interpreting charts. Previous experience in horary is not necessary – the course provides a full theoretical overview of the subject and highlights the most useful and reliable principles of judgement. In addition to showing how to most-effectively draw out the meaning of a chart, it also focusses on preparing astrologers for the sensitive issues that arise within the horary consultation process.

The course offers a practitioner level of certification, and by the end of the course any astrologer who is already capable of offering a professional astrology service will be ready to begin offering horary to clients. The course is also a requisite qualification for anyone wishing to undertake the advanced level of study and tutorial mentorship offered in the STA Masters-Level Horary Course.

The course explores the methodology, theory, history and practical application of horary technique, and places its emphasis on learning through typical client-scenarios, with consideration also given to informative historical examples. Although traditional techniques lie at the heart of the study, the course is geared towards the consulting needs of the modern horary astrologer and a wide range of typical (and unusual) horary queries are covered (including lost items/missing pets and people, relationships/emotional dilemmas, property/career/financial concerns).

Study groups are kept small to ensure plenty of individual attention, and lessons take the form of tutorials with follow-up discussion and practice scenarios. In these, students are guided towards developing refined focus, and taught the most efficient way to extract the pertinent details of the astrological symbolism. Each lesson allows the opportunity to explore and consolidate what is being taught through a selection of various chart examples, and the course is designed to offer an accumulated knowledge of traditional doctrines in a balanced way, so that theoretical principles enlighten and facilitate (rather than overwhelm) the creative aspect of horary interpretation.

Lee’s course graduates also get an online opportunity to study the differences between the old course and the new one here:

CS302: Classical Studies in Gaming

The purpose of this Course is to teach not only the concepts of contest or warfare astrology, but to teach the research methods you will need to know in order to optimize your own model. Students will be provided with the Super Bowl data in the Microsoft Access database as a starting point.

Prerequisites: Horary 102 and Electional (201), or knowledge of classical method in horary and electional. An acceptable alternative would be the Diploma from the School of Traditional Astrology.

By the final session, the student should be able to make predictions of game outcomes at a rate at or exceeding 2/3 accuracy. To pass the Course, the work submitted must demonstrate a consistently high quality. Lessons may be submitted in either English or French, and may be submitted by e-mail, snail mail, or fax.

Lee has taught on-line at Kepler College for ten years. In her private courses, she takes that experience in cutting edge on-line instruction technology and applies it to a less academic and more practical setting. Her take on adult education? Strictly business! She won’t waste your time on exercises that don’t teach you how to do the method she is presenting. And that is the purpose of a teacher, after all – not to impress you, not to overwhelm you – but to give you an introduction to the material in a way that you leave the course better educated – which means not only knowing more about the material, but being able to ask questions, and explore more on your own.

But the real value of this Course is not the lessons, but the opportunity to learn from your own gaming examples. These become the subject for a mentoring environment where personal feedback accelerates your learning. This Course gives you the opportunity to work with Lee, not simply read Lee’s books and Course materials.

CS202: Classical Mundane Astrology

Mundane Astrology has developed along exciting new lines since the advent of World War II. British astrologers were confronted with the difficulties imposed by the prediction of war between neighboring states, where many of the traditional mundane charts might not differ significantly. The innovations of the 1940’s were further enhanced by the development of a true locational astrology, a feat too difficult to practice meaningfully until the advent of computer power. However, these developments occurred at a time in astrology in which prediction had not merely lost its edge, but was actively discouraged by many astrologers as being unethical.

Classical Astrology has returned the gloss to prediction. And so now it is time to re- examine the traditional mundane techniques in the light of new developments. This Course teaches the classical styles of mundane analysis, and then compares them with modern developments, allowing the student to work with both styles together in a meaningful fashion.

This Course assumes a basic knowledge of classical natal and interrogatory astrology, as taught in Introduction to Classical Astrology and Classical Studies in Horary.

Lee teaches primarily at Kepler College. In her private courses, she takes that experience in cutting edge on-line instruction technology and applies it to a less academic and more practical setting. Her take on adult education? Strictly business! She won’t waste your time on exercises that don’t teach you how to do the method she is presenting. These become the subject for a mentoring environment where personal feedback accelerates your learning. By the final session, the student should be able to make predictions of mundane developments. To pass the Course, the work submitted must demonstrate a consistently high quality. Lessons may be submitted in either English or French, and may be submitted by e-mail, snail mail, or fax.

Syllabus for the Full Course:

CS201: Classical Studies in Electional

Lee taught on-line at Kepler College for ten years.

The C.S.E. teaches Classical methods in Electional Astrology, supplementing the two other branches of Interrogations: Horary and event interpretation. It is presented as a Correspondence Course.

Have you ever been frustrated when someone asks you to use astrology to help them pick a time to do something, and you haven’t quite felt up to the task? It’s not that you don’t know anything about astrology – but picking times (electional astrology) is a specialty which is not covered in most general works on astrology. If you have an astrology business, then we don’t have to tell you how important for you it could be to be able to add this skill to the ones you already have. As an astrologer, you know how basic timing can be – and here is a way to use this knowledge practically. This Course assumes a basic knowledge of classical astrology, equivalent to the first four lessons of the Classical Studies in Horary Course. Just these lessons are available as a prelude to this Course, or the prospective student may demonstrate mastery of this subject matter by passing an entrance exam.

Imagine the satisfaction you’ll feel whn you begin to feel comfortable doing electionals for others. To pass the Course, the work submitted must demonstrate a consistently high quality. Lessons may be submitted in either English or French.

CS101: Beginning Natal Astrology

Have you ever found yourself reading a chart and generating more buzz words than meaning? You go to conferences, read books, talk to other astrologers – you know all these techniques, and yet the meaning just seems to slip away. The Sun is square Mars, but trine Pluto, which is in a yod with Neptune and the Moon, which is all part of a locomotive pattern, and transiting Saturn has just conjoined the Neptune? And then, what to do with Mars out of bounds? No wonder you keep going back to the books to try to grapple with this: you have all these images spinning in your head and no way to sort them out into patterns, much less prioritize the pieces!

The purpose of the Introductory Classical Astrology course is a to teach the background and logic behind classical astrological techniques and methods, with an eye toward the integration of these techniques into conventional modern delineation. Why add classical methods? Because, chances are, modern methods alone don’t give you answers to all the questions you have.

Classical astrology went through at least three major periods where astrologers developed a consistent logic to put together an understanding of the chart. Rather than ” a little of this, a little of that,” imagine how much more powerful your understanding and explanations will be when you have a system to use to construct meaning.

This course teaches the basics of classical delineation: the use of dignities, temperament, and how to meaningfully discuss happiness, financial planning, health, relationships and professional concerns over the life of the Native. The Course is geared to natal astrology, but many of the techniques are also applicable in horary, electional, and mundane. This course overlaps with, but does not cover exactly the same sequence or material as the Classical Studies in Horary Course.

This Course assumes a basic knowledge of natal astrology, comparable to the NCGR Level II certification, or the first year of study under the Federation of Australian Astrologers curriculum. A previous exposure to classical method is not necessary.

Lee has taught on-line at the International Academy of Astrology, Avalon School of Astrology, the Midwest School of Astrology, and Kepler College for over twenty years. When you have finished any of Lee’s courses, you can be confident that you will have more tools to understand a chart, and the grounding to apply them.

By the final session, the student should be familiar enough with classical theory to be able to apply classical techniques successfully to routine astrological issues of the kind presented in the typical consultation. To pass the Course, the work submitted must demonstrate a consistently high quality.

Where to take Lee’s courses

Since Lee teaches in a number of locations, not to mention ad-hoc weekends through different astrological groups, it may be confusing to decide which course to take where.

Here are links to where Lee teaches:

Her own coursesite: http://lehmanastrologycourses.com/moodle/.

International Academy of Astrology (on-line and Cleveland, OH): http://www.astrocollege.org

Midwest School of Astrology (Cincinnati, OH and on-line): http://midwestschoolofastrology.com/

Kepler College (on-line): http://www.kepler.edu/home/. AT this time, Lee is teaching shorter courses here (4-6 week format) rather than full courses.

At first the grid below may seem a bit intimidating, but let’s just stop and consider some of the criteria at the top.

  • Mode is probably the most important place to start. If you have difficulty learning completely on-line, then Lee’s teaching at the Midwest School of Astrology, or through weekends at various astrological groups, may be for you. If you cannot do a fixed weekly schedule, then do Lee’s website course, and if not, the International Academy of Astrology.
  • In general, the Midwest School of Astrology courses serve as excellent surveys, but the absence of homework means the topics are not covered in the same depth as the other courses.
  • While this may not at first seem important at all, the use of classroom software is (imho) a considerable advantage to teaching. It allows the instructor to organize the material more carefully, and more sequentially, which means the student needs to spend less time figuring out how to sequence the learning and required assignments.
  • Teaching at the International Academy of Astrology is organized around terms or semesters, while my website is not. Accordingly, students lose access to classrooms some time after the course is complete in those schools, whereas I leave students up in my courses indefinitely.

Introduction to Classical Methods Introduction to natal methods. No prior knowledge of classical astrology assumed. Course objectives: to provide students of modern astrology an alternative approach and logic Yes. Currently classical method is taught alongside modern, but Lee teaches a single course on classical methods.
Introductory Classical (Natal) Astrology This course provides the student of modern astrology with an entry point to classical astrology and then considers the application to topics such as happiness, financial planning, relationships, and vocational concerns of the Native.  Lee has co-written the first year curriculum at IAA which teaches classical and modern together

Classical Studies in Horary Astrology This course is suspended temporarily in 2016 while I revise it Two different versions. I teach a survey of horary and electional, and then an in-depth course in year 3 of the  diploma program. This hands-on class teaches how to answer horary questions in such areas relationships, legal matters, jobs, rumors, real estate, and lost objects.
Basic Medical and Horary The purpose of this weekend is to provide the student with the tools to answer a series of common questions that routinely occur in an astrological practice and to introduce the student to the medical theories common when medical astrology was developed  A brief module of medical astrology is introduced in NAT-4 which is authored by Lee.
Classical Studies in Electional How to pick dates to take action: with respect to relationships, defeating an opponent, jobs, real estate, medical procedures, setting up a corporation, journeys, and beginning an educational program. Classical Studies in Astro-Meteorology In this course, our primary text is the 17th c. opus on the subject by John Goad – but his work was considerably enlightened by the earlier work of Kepler and others.
Classical Studies in Medical Astrology This Course is suspended in 20016 while Lee creates a new curriculum. Located in year 3 of the diploma track, this Course teaches how to develop a life strategy for wellness, as well as how to interpret the course of a disease once manifested, and what susceptibilities to discuss with the Native.
Symposium of Charts In this course, students bring charts ranging from natal, horary, electional, medical, or mundane, and we work through these charts as a practicum.
Classical Studies in Gaming The purpose of this Course is to teach not only the concepts of contest or warfare astrology, but to teach the research methods you will need to know in order to optimize your own model. Students will be provided with the Super Bowl data in the Microsoft Access database as a starting point, along with several sports data set chart files.

Why take a course?

You’ve studied astrology for – how long? You know you love it, but try as you might, you just cannot seem to get past going back to the cookbooks. Not that the cookbooks are bad, but don’t you wish you could feel as comfortable with that new chart as the speakers you saw at the last conference? Don’t you wish that that technique you just learned worked as well in the chart that you used as it did in the example you read?

If you’d like to take your astrological knowledge past key words and cookbooks, then we are proud to present multiple choices for study in classical method. Study the basics, and then pick the advanced courses of your choosing.

Lee’s take on adult education? Strictly business! She won’t waste your time on exercises that don’t teach you how to do the method she is presenting. And that is the purpose of a teacher, after all – not to impress you, not to overwhelm you – but to give you an introduction to the material in a way that you leave the course better educated – which means not only knowing more about the material, but being able to ask questions, and explore more on your own. Lee is the recipient of the 2008 Regulus Award in Education: she takes this very seriously!

Lee’s Courses are available on-line! Once you register for a course, you will always have access to the latest version through your user login.

Note: In 2016, Lee has temporarily suspended new registrations in horary and medical while she makes changes to the curriculum.
